Žacléř, a picturesque town in the foothills of the Krkonoše Mountains, has a rich history dating back to the 13th century, when a castle stood here protecting a trade route. Today, Žacléř is best known for its coal mining, which began in the 18th century and continued until 1992. The town also boasts a tradition of glassmaking and textile production, and a historic center that has been a municipal heritage zone since 2003. Following World War II, the German population, which previously made up the majority of the inhabitants, was displaced. Žacléř is therefore a place with a diverse history and cultural heritage.Wikipedia
