Blatná is a historic town in the South Bohemian Region, founded on marshlands and surrounded by the hills and forests of the Brdy mountains. First mentioned in 1235, the town flourished in the 18th century thanks to the Serenyi family, who commissioned the church tower and other buildings. After a major fire in 1834, Blatná recovered with the arrival of the railway and rose cultivation. Today, Blatná is known for its historic conservation area and rich educational history, dating back to the 15th century. Wikipedia
