Wilczy Szaniec is the former headquarters of Adolf Hitler, operational from 1941-1944 in the Gierłoski Forest, near Kętrzyn. Built as a command center during the war with the USSR, it witnessed key decisions and important events, including the failed assassination attempt of July 20, 1944. The extensive complex, consisting of bunkers, barracks, and fortifications, hosted the highest-ranking military and political figures of the Third Reich. Hitler spent approximately 800 days here, and after his departure in 1944, the site was destroyed by retreating German troops and subsequently occupied by the Red Army. Today, Wilczy Szaniec is a popular historical site, offering the opportunity to learn about the dark past of World War II.Wikipedia
