The Jihlavské katakomby are the second largest underground system in the Czech Republic, stretching approximately 25 km long and covering an area of 50,000 m². They gradually developed from the 13th century onwards, originally as cellars and later as spaces for storage and production. Silver mining was long speculated upon, but the more likely reason was the economic development of the city. The katakomby also served as a refuge during wartime and later as a sewer system. Today, the so-called Old Circuit is open to the public, featuring a unique "glowing corridor" painted with luminescent paint, and is a place of many tales about paranormal phenomena. Wikipedia
