Nové Hrady is picturesquely situated in South Bohemia at the foot of the Gratzener Bergland, close to the Austrian border. The town looks back on a long history, beginning with Slavic castle grounds around 980. Over the centuries, various noble families, including the Rosenberger and the Bucquoy, held dominion over the region. Nové Hrady flourished through beer brewing, hop cultivation, and glass production, but also suffered from Hussite raids and wars. Today, the town is a popular destination for tourists who want to explore the restored Old Town and the charming landscape of the Gratzener Bergland.Wikipedia
