Opatovický kanál, originally called Velká strúha, is a significant medieval structure built in 1498 to supply the ponds around Pardubice. The canal, over 32 km long, took its current form under the rule of Vilém z Pernštejna and still provides irrigation and pond water supply today. It is also used for water tourism, fishing, and historically powered 32 mills, some of which still operate as small hydroelectric power plants. The canal is a protected cultural monument managed by Povodí Labe.Wikipedia
