The ruins of the Renaissance Zvířetice Castle are located near Bakov nad Jizerou, in a beautiful landscape above the village of Podhradí. Originally a Gothic castle founded in the 14th century, it was gradually rebuilt and served as a residence for noble families, including the Waldsteins. After fires and decay, only ruins remain, which the Czech Tourist Club transformed into an observation tower with views of the Jizera River and the surrounding countryside.
