Vranov nad Dyjí Castle, idyllically situated on the Thaya River, boasts a turbulent history. Originally an 11th-century fortress, it was transformed into a magnificent Baroque castle in the 17th and 18th centuries – planned by renowned architects such as Fischer von Erlach. Particularly impressive are the Ancestral Hall with its dome and the castle chapel. Over the centuries, the castle changed hands several times, served as a film location, and underwent extensive restoration. Today, it houses an exhibition, including works by the Frainer ceramics manufactory, and invites visitors to experience the past of Moravia.
