The Reschensee in South Tyrol is an impressive reservoir created in the 1950s by the flooding of the old villages of Graun and Reschen. Today, the church tower of Alt-Graun rises from the water as a memorial and is a well-known landmark. The lake is used for hydroelectric power generation and offers a variety of leisure activities such as cycling, hiking, water sports, and in winter, ice skating and snowkiting. The history of the lake and the flooded villages inspires artists and can be found in books, series, and songs.Wikipedia
