Velké Karlovice is picturesquely situated in Mährische Walachei, nestled in the Beskydy Nature Park between the Vsetínské vrchy and Javorníky mountains. The village stretches along the Vsetínská Bečva river and is surrounded by numerous streams and mountains, including Soláň, known as the “Walachian Olympus.” Originally founded in the 18th century as a border settlement, Velké Karlovice has developed into one of the largest municipalities in Moravia. Today, the village is popular with hikers and cyclists in summer and as a winter sports center, particularly for cross-country skiing. The nearby Karolinka reservoir and the historical development of the region make Velké Karlovice an attractive destination for visitors.
