Horní náměstí is the heart of Olomouc, a spacious square in the city’s historic UNESCO-listed center. It is dominated by the Renaissance Town Hall with its astronomical clock and the Baroque Holy Trinity Column. The square is a venue for many events and is surrounded by historic houses and fountains. Founded in the 13th century, it has undergone many transformations, including a reconstruction at the end of the 20th century. Despite its name, Horní náměstí lies slightly lower than the neighboring Dolní náměstí.
