Chvaletice Power Plant is a heat power plant burning brown coal, located in the Polabí region approximately 20 km from Pardubice. It was built between 1973-1979 and, with a capacity of 820 MW, is the newest brown coal power plant in the Czech Republic. It has been operated since 2013 under the Czech Coal group, was modernized in 2016, and supplies heat to surrounding municipalities. The power plant is also known for its environmental impacts and long-term criticism from environmental organizations and local residents, particularly regarding emissions and air pollution.
